Our "donation quilt" to be given away at the show. Tickets $1.00 each; winner does not have to be present to win. All members will have tickets to sell. Members contributed Log Cabin blocks and they were set in a Barn Raising Design with hand-appliquéd magnolias in alternating corners of the border. Machine quilting by Susie Jackson.

CENTENNIAL CHALLENGE IN TWO PARTS: Quilt must be 24" square, made by one individual, commemorating the 100th anniversary of either the University of Southern Mississippi OR the Hattiesburg Train Depot. A $250 purchase prize will be awarded for each part.

Our 2008 show was a huge success, awarding sewing machines, cash and merchandise prizes through the generosity of our sponsors. The complete list of awards and sponsors and winners in the 2008 judged show can be seen here.
Best of Show – Large was won by Norma Grissom of Corinth, MS, for "Hearts and Flowers." Judy Spiers of Foxworth, MS, won Best of Show – Wall for her "Baskets in Black and White."

   


The hand-appliquéd and hand-quilted "A Southern Garden" by Carolyn Kimble of Moss Point, MS, won Viewers' Choice as well as Appliqué Artistry. In the Theme Category (two-color quilts), "Just the Blues" by Leslie Kiger of Covington, LA, won First Place among 44 entries.

   


One of the favorite exhibits of the show featured the 18 entries in the 24" x 24" Miss Hattie's Hat Challenge sponsored by the Hattiesburg Convention and Visitors Bureau. Winners were:

First Place: "Miss Hattie's Peaches and Cream Parfait" by Jo-Ann Evans
Second Place: "Miss Hattie's Hat for Ascot" by Caroline Kluge
Third Place: "Hattiesburg Blooms" by Ella Lucas
Honorable Mention: "Hattie's Favorite" by Sally Henderson
