Welcome to Pine Belt Quilters, Inc.

We organized in Hattiesburg, Mississippi in 1984 with 25 members and have just celebrated our 25th Anniversary in 2009 with 180 members. We filed for and received 501(c)(3) status under the IRS guidelines as an educational, charitable organization whose purposes include encouraging and promoting the art of quilting; preservation of quilts; providing opportunities to exhibit examples of quilting and related needlework; and engaging in charitable activities, particularly those targeting children.

We are civic-minded members of the Area Development Partnership and are active in helping to celebrate the Centennial of the University of Southern Mississippi and the newly renovated Hattiesburg Train Depot.

We give generously of our time and efforts, with proceeds from quilt shows and other projects turned back into educational and charitable projects. We are helping to preserve the American artistic and cultural heritage of quilting by making traditional bed quilts as well as creating original works that become art for the walls. Whether the technique is traditional or innovative, quilts are works of art. Come celebrate the art of quilting with us!

We have up to four meetings per month with programs, workshops, and charitable activities. See Guild Activities page for more information. We mount the largest judged fiber art and quilt show in the state in October of the even-numbered years. See the Fiber Art & Quilt Show page for details.
